Coaching Skills For Managers

DURATION: 3 x 3-hour virtual sessions over 3 weeks


Coaching and mentoring are terms that are often used inter-changeably when, in fact, they are two very different types of relationships. This workshop is an opportunity to identify coaching and mentoring opportunities and develop the essential skills for using them in the workplace.

By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:

  • differentiate between coaching and mentoring;

  • identify the various coaching and mentoring opportunities in their daily interactions as a people manager/leader;

  • identify the benefits and challenges of workplace mentoring relationships to support professional development and greater organisational goals;

  • explore their own learning style and consider how other’s styles learn differently;

  • describe and develop within others, a ‘growth’ mindset in their coaching and mentoring interactions;

  • demonstrate essential communication skills, such as listening, questioning, and giving feedback, to support their coaching and/or mentoring conversations;

  • practice and demonstrate the GROW Model and other helpful tools for coaching and mentoring conversations.
