Listening Ain’t Hearing
DURATION: 90 minute LLL WORKSHOP
Just because we are blessed with ears, does not mean we are listening.
Hearing is a physiological process that occurs using our ears and the auditory system of listening, hard-wired in our brain. And yet, people with perfect hearing are not always great listeners.
True listening is both a physiological and psychological process where sounds are received and interpreted for meaning through a very complex neurological and very efficient process.
So what are the practices, habits, and techniques of great listeners? How do they avoid or overcome the very human traps of being a poor listener?
By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:
identify the benefits of improving their listening at work;
experience some structured listening exercises to explore the challenges of being an effective listener;
explain their own challenges as a listener;
use helpful listening frameworks to improve the quality of their listening; and
explore the value of giving and receiving feedback as an effective listener;
YOU’LL LEARN ABOUT …
